What’s it like living in Inverness?

Inverness is the capital of the Highlands but, unlike some capital cities, it maintains a close-knit community. It’s a place where you’ll find friendly locals, keen to share the best bits of their home city with you.

Inverness Airport links the city to other parts of the UK, including the Scottish Islands. This has increased the accessibility of Inverness, as well as the rest of the Highlands.

Not being far from Loch Ness, there’s a a big tourism and hospitality sector, and of course, Monster Be-Friending Opportunities.

The Culloden Battlefield isn’t far away either and is often visited by people who are familiar with it from movies like Braveheart and shows like Outlander.

Situated amongst fantastic countryside with forests and rivers, there’s plenty for outdoors-y people to enjoy. Hiking, cycling, and water sports are all common reasons for people to visit. And even more reason for people to stay.

How to fit in if you’re new or visiting:

Dreich (pronounced drree-k) is a Scottish word meaning grey and drizzly.

Typically for the area, the winters are cold, the summers are mild, and the weather can change with no warning.
